On Tuesday, I told you everything you need to know about vermouth and why it's going to be all over the drinks world this year, and this is the perfect cocktail to add to your repertoire if you're looking to be all trendy.
Thankfully, it's slightly more fancy than a Martini and lemo’, and it's a great serve which I highly recommend. It's not stirred, it's a little sweeter, and it's really refreshing.
One of my favourite classics, Blood and Sand is named after Rudolph Valentino’s 1922 film. It works well with the ratios tweaked, to incorporate less cherry brandy and more vermouth, though the finish is a little drier.
Blood and Sand cocktail recipe (serves one)
Ingredients:
- 25ml Good quality blended scotch
- 20ml cherry brandy (I recommend Cherry Heering)
- 25ml Cocchi Torino Sweet Vermouth
- 25ml Fresh squeezed orange Juice.
Shake it!
1. Shake hard, fine strain and serve straight up with a cherry and orange twist.
