Hey there drinks fans! It's Sam again with your weekly update of supermarket specials. This week making it's debut in the Vinspire league of beers is Tesco's Simply range. Will this well known establishment bring a touch of class to proceedings or is this just another big name flop? Let's put three big contenders to the test!
Leading the line up is the Simply Dark Ale. Deep ruby red in colour, the nose has rich red fruit essences with a slight chocolatey hint. The mouth feel is lusciously smooth and full bodied, abundant with fruit and a nutty hints.
Holding firm in the middle the Simply IPA. This has a much more tropical character about it, charging from the middle of the park with flair. The rich malty core is followed up by the finesse of a finely hopped citrus finish.
Staying strong at the back is the Simply Golden Ale. It's, as you can probably gather from the name, golden in colour. It's refreshingly sweet nose is followed up by flavours of orange and mandarin and a zesty twist to finish off. While the finish is slightly short, what this beer does do well, is it's job. It's an everyday drinker, designed to be refreshing. It does without the fancy tricks and stands strong and does what it's there to do.
Well this certainly has been a vintage display and it seems like Tesco are building a strong squad with their Simply range. Could we be seeing more additions in the new year? This pundit would certainly love to see the addition of a lager or possibly even a stout. For now though, each of these bottles is retailing at just £1.49 each. Unbelievable Jeff!
