Infused Booze: Weird and Wonderful Infused Vodka Recipes
The drinks market has just about every flavour of infused vodka going these days - from marmalade to buttered popcorn - but they tend to be on the pricey side. If I can get a premium artisan gin or a sickly flavoured vodka for around the £35 mark, I know which one I'd choose.
The more austere (or, well, skint) of us do have another option though: infusing the vodka ourselves with whatever flavours we fancy. There are some truly wonderful recipes out there, and the results are often far more pleasing than the bulk-made kind. Here are a few of our favourites:
Rhubarb and Custard Vodka - This is the invention of Domestic Sluttery, and would be utterly amazing in cocktails.
Marshmallow Vodka - Elizabeth Sellers of Rosalilium came up with this one, and it's amazing (even if she says she did accidentally use too much colouring - we love that crazy pink!)
Caramel and Black Truffle Salt Vodka - We don't think vodka gets more decadent than this. In fact -ahem - we've never even heard of black truffle salt before.
Starburst Vodka - Because WHY NOT.
Christmas Pudding Vodka - Another Domestic Sluttery finest, this recipe is far, far simpler than the Hairy Bikers version. Perfect: quick and easy to make in the busiest month of the year, and the ideal stocking filler for just about everyone I know.
Bacon Maple Infused Vodka - I. CAN'T. EVEN. Not entirely sure why you'd do this, however I can't help wondering how it would taste with some eggnog. Get it? Just me? Okay.
